The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) issues this document after verifying an individual’s background. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to obtain a Good Conduct Certificate in Kenya efficiently.
Step 1: Create an eCitizen Account
The application process for a Good Conduct Certificate begins on the eCitizen portal. If you do not have an account, follow these steps:- Visit eCitizen
- Click on “Create Account”
- Select the appropriate category (Citizen, Foreign Resident, or Business)
- Enter your ID number and personal details
- Verify your account using an SMS code and set up a password
Step 2: Apply for the Police Clearance Certificate
Once logged in:- Navigate to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) section.
- Click on “Police Clearance Certificate.”
- Fill out the application form with your personal details.
- Confirm the details and proceed to payment.
Step 3: Make Payment
The current application fee for a Police Clearance Certificate is KES 1,050. Payment can be made via mobile money (M-Pesa), debit/credit card, or direct bank transfer. Ensure you receive a confirmation message before proceeding.Step 4: Book a Fingerprint Appointment
After making payment, you must schedule an appointment for fingerprint processing. Choose the nearest DCI office, Huduma Centre, or police station with fingerprint services. Print out the payment receipt and C24 fingerprint form, which you will present at the appointment.Step 5: Fingerprint Submission
On the appointment date:- Carry your original ID/passport.
- Present the printed payment receipt and C24 form.
- Your fingerprints will be taken digitally or on paper, depending on the facility.
Step 6: Check for Updates and Download the Certificate
Processing takes about 1 to 4 weeks. You can check your application status on eCitizen. Once approved:- Log in to eCitizen.
- Go to “Police Clearance Certificate.”
- Download and print the certificate.
